Two Pens on Notebook

An Immortal Love Saga

Writer: Through Her windowThrough Her window

Walking barefoot on the temple's stone pavement early in the morning, she felt dew drops lightly touching her soft feet. She entered the temple grounds, carrying her flower basket, and suddenly felt a shift in the energy around her. The old stone architecture, with dimly lit lamps, freshly watered plants, and birds chirping around, created a serene atmosphere. The cold breeze, mixed with the mild scents of jasmine, sandalwood, and camphor, filled her nose. The distant chime of mild bells and the chanting of mantras eased her nerves from the bustling streets.

Her thoughts blurred as she walked along the intricately-carved stone path. With each step, her strangled nerves calmed down. She stumbled slightly on her golden-white saree. Carefully regaining her balance, she continued walking. Her gold anklets jingled with each step, accompanied by the gentle sound of her bangles. The white jasmine flower garland adorning her long, beautifully braided hair added to her grace. Her kohl-filled eyes and the kumkum on her forehead symbolized her devotion and cultural heritage.

It is her ritual; she visits him every Monday. He is her protector, guide, source of positivity, knowledge, and patience. As she entered the temple of Lord Shiva/Mahadev, she felt all her worries and problems were left behind, allowing her to experience peace and divinity. He brought calm to her chaotic mind.

Today it felt different though. She arrived with questions that needed answers—questions about her struggles. She has always admired Mahadev's patience, power, and grounded nature. His eyes hold the peace you crave in day-to-day life. Just by being in his presence, she can feel calm. What she finds most endearing about him is his love for Devi Parvati. Mahadev and Devi Parvati are a match made beyond time—a love that has endured through the ages.

A timeless love story, one that is divinely inspired. It is a tale of patience and sacrifice, redefining the very essence of love. Mahadev and Devi Parvati. He is a recluse, while she is the beloved princess; he embodies destruction, and she is Mother Nature. He brings peace, and she exudes power. Parvati was reborn to be his, and he waited for her for millions of years.

The story begins when Lord Brahma seeks the ultimate source of power to create this universe and turns to Devi Shakti for assistance. At the beginning of creation, Shiv and Shakti were united. However, their love came with a sacrifice essential for the creation of this world. After creating a beautiful, vast world, Devi Shakti was reincarnated after millions of years later as Devi Sati.

Although Devi Sati and Mahadev were united after a long wait, their time together was short-lived. In a moment of despair, Devi Sati sacrificed herself in her father's house through a sacred fire, unable to withstand the disrespect shown to her beloved husband, Mahadev. Heartbroken, Mahadev mourned her loss, but it was destined for Devi Sati to be reborn. This divine union would eventually rekindle, teaching the world the power of love, devotion, and sacrifice.

After Devi Sati's sacrifice, Mahadev entered a deep meditation, dedicating himself to self-discipline and enlightenment. He channeled his thoughts for the betterment of the universe. He again waited millions of years for Devi Sati to reincarnate as Parvati, enduring pain and loneliness.

Finally, Devi Parvati was born as a princess to King Himalaya. Everyone believed that the long wait was finally over and that Shiv and Shakti would be united to restore balance of the universe. However, Devi Parvati's journey to enlightenment was still incomplete. Although she was born a princess, enjoying all the comforts of life and experiencing a wide range of human emotions, she needed to prove herself and uplift her soul to bear the weight of the universe and reclaim her ultimate power. She had to work diligently on her path to enlightenment.

A princess who once lived in a mansion left her home to live in the jungle, abandoning all material possessions. She survived on fruits and the bare minimum. She endured the rugged and harsh environment to prove her love and devotion to Mahadev. When Devi Parvati achieved her ultimate enlightenment, Mahadev and Devi Parvati united on the auspicious day of Mahashivratri.

For Devi Parvati, devotion goes beyond mere reverence; it embodies a profound love and dedication that fuels her unwavering pursuit of Lord Shiva. Despite his seemingly impenetrable detachment from worldly ties, her devotion remains steadfast and resolute. This union symbolizes the balancing of two opposing forces—a destroyer and nurture—a beautiful symphony creating soulful melodies—the balance essential for establishing equilibrium within the universe.

In the grand narrative of their relationship, this union is not simply a convergence of divine energies; it signifies a partnership rooted in equity, mutual respect, and shared purpose. Devi Parvati represents the ultimate feminine power - the Shakti, complementing Lord Shiva's ascetic nature. Although their ways of thinking and ideologies differ, they share mutual respect and a greater purpose.

Her presence grounds him, transforming him from a distant yogi, solitary in his meditation, to a figure who engages with the world around him. Lord Shiva enjoyed his crematorium, which he called his solitude. She transformed that crematorium into a home. This metamorphosis demonstrates how love can connect two distant individuals.

This story always brings tears to her eyes. When her lord faced many difficulties as a god, she, as a human, must endure the pain of existence to attain her peace. Sitting before her Lord Shiva, she closed her eyes and prayed for pious love like Mahadev and Devi Parvati. Tears streamed down her face as she understood that such a sacred love is built on patience and devotion. When she opened her eyes and wiped away her tears, she realized that true love ultimately leads to happiness.
